Mission & Goals

Mission Statement

The mission of the Community Impact Assessment Subcommittee is to identify and advance research to improve the CIA practice and to expand the understanding of community impacts and incorporation of community issues into transportation decision-making.

CIA Subcommittee Goals:

To carry out its mission and in support of the parent committees and the Transportation Research Board, the Community Impact Assessment Subcommittee has identified the following core goals:

  1. Enhance communication and collaboration both internal to the Subcommittee and with parent and other TRB committees on issues of significance to the practice of CIA in transportation.
  2. Facilitate advancements in the practice of CIA in transportation through promoting basic and applied research.
  3. Serve as a leader in defining and evolving the practice of CIA in transportation through promoting and developing training, education and resources for practitioners.
  4. Engage and contribute to the professional development of new and young CIA practitioners currently working in agency, academic and private settings through committee activities, networking and resources.
